All paws on deck…Culture Days is going to the dogs, literally. The AGSM is excited to be hosting its first ever doggie art show and interactive event - “Paws on the Walls” on Saturday, September 30, 2017. From 1pm to 5pm, canines are encouraged to bring their “hoomans” to view art about, for, and by dogs, in a special outdoor gallery experience. On site will be dog themed artwork by local established and emerging artists, a special scent based exhibit curated and hung especially for the four legged, and an interactive workshop for dogs to make individual and collaborative works. Refreshments will be provided thanks to our sponsor, A Pet Lovers Warehouse, and Funds for Furry Friends and BALA Brandon and Area Lost Animals will both be on hand to participate!

But wait, there’s more…

The AGSM will also host an activity packed open house. Join the Youth Advisory Council as they provide on-the-hour tours of the galleries and studios. Art making and process demonstrations will take place LIVE in our ceramics and printmaking studios. You can also participate in a variety of activities including: a beading drop-in class, terrifying drawings in the “day”mare studio*, an art+feminism Wikipedia edit-a-thon, a special Culture Days downtown photo scavenger hunt, and much more!

*Did you know that the AGSM was recently listed as the second most haunted location in Manitoba? We definitely put the “art” in STARTLED!

Taking place along 7th Street, behind the AGSM, we invite you to our first ever dog gallery! This art show and interactive event is specifically designed for Brandon’s canines. We encouraged all canines to bring their “hoomans” to view art about, for, and by dogs in a special outdoor gallery experience. On site will be dog themed artwork by local established and emerging artists, a special scent based exhibit curated and hung especially for the four-legged, and an interactive workshop for making individual and collaborative works. Refreshments will be provided.

Beading Drop-In (1-3:30pm)

Come hang out with artist Jessie Fosty any time from 1-3:30pm for a beading drop-in class. Learn new techniques or practice what you already know. Supplies will be provided but feel free to bring your own.

“Day”mare Drawings (2-4pm)

Join artist, Tim Brown, in a drawing class not for the faint of heart! Explore and draw on your darkest fears and those things that go "bump" in the day time, or maybe just tap into the creepy side of reality! Chris will share some of her ghoulish techniques as you fall into a trance in our red “day”mare studio.

Downtown Photo Scavenger Hunt (12-5pm)

Grab your digital camera or cell phone and stop by the AGSM for your special Culture Days Scavenger Hunt list. Click away and capture the 10 items/scenes in downtown Brandon, and then submit them by the 5pm deadline (either via email or on a Gallery computer). Participants who check off  everything on the list will be entered into a juried competition that will be featured in the Community Gallery in a future exhibition. A grand prize winner will be selected from the submissions based on creativity, composition, and style!
