Reception: Thursday, November 8, 7:30PM

In celebration of their 20th anniversary, this exhibition brings together recent works by members of the Brandon Embroiderers, as well as two youth members of the Embroidery Association of Canada. Premiering in the show will be the group’s most recent project, a display sign entitled “Birds of a Feather…”, which will accompany all future community shows. Dazzling traditional and contemporary techniques will be featured, including blackwork, Brazilian, canvas work, cross stitch, crewel, goldwork, needle and thread painting, ribbon, and stumpwork.

The Brandon Embroiderers began as a small group in the summer of 1998. Evolving and thriving over two decades, the embroiderers meet weekly in order to preserve traditional techniques, as well as offer new challenges in contemporary embroidery for those interested. Members range from advanced participants to beginners, who join weekly to work on their own projects, advance their skills, and simply enjoy the fellowship. All are welcome, united by their love of fibres, colour, and design.
