Opening Reception: Thursday February 25, 7:30PM

This exhibition brings together two new bodies of work by Craig Milliken. Opening with a grid of six images, busy gallery visitors are invited to “stop and notice simple pleasures of fences, trees and leaves.” Through repetition and colour shifts the grid is reminiscent of Andy Warhol’s screen printed portraits of celebrities, here replaced by a rhythm of trees in a prairie forest along the Little Saskatchewan River. Meanwhile, a series of drawings in the Community Gallery mark a return to Milliken’s earlier visual language, in which geometric forms existed in reference to the prairie landscape. In these newest drawings, they repeat, overlap, and mirror each other in configurations that appear to dance off the surface.
