The Manitoba Multifaith Council Justice and Corrections Committee has sponsored an art contest for individuals incarcerated in Manitoba’s correctional centres since 2010. The objective of the contest is to provide inmates with a creative outlet and, in many cases, a chance to showcase incredible talents that have not found a platform elsewhere. Within the 59 works of art on display in the Kayes Community Gallery, themes of freedom, hope, grief, love, and spirituality intermingle, humanizing and specifying the experience of incarceration.
Visitors to the gallery are invited to send a message to any artist whose work made a particular impression on them.
Restorative Justice Week is November 16-23, 2025. Join the AGSM and its partners for lunch on Friday, November 21 for a presentation and panel discussion about the effect that restorative justice practices can have on community well-being with Travis Blaine from Westman Mediation, Judge Shauna Hewitt-Michta, and Mayor Jeff Fawcett.
