The International Baccalaureate students in the Visual Arts program at Neelin High School present Art, Whatever That Means. Guided by their teacher, Ms. Tara Leach, the students explore what it means to create art and reflect on their creative goals and styles. This exhibition is a collection of their artistic journey, process, and everything “in-between.”

Art, Whatever That Means is a collective of all the in-betweens. In our time together, we have grown as individuals developing our own styles, leaving behind prior conceptions and criticisms, and creating new meanings and experiences of art for ourselves. Art is perceived differently by every viewer; similarly, we create with our own styles and techniques. We are not a group of refined artists who follow the rules of art. We have our own definition: we are art-ish, individual-ish, collective-ish. What do we mean by ‘ish’? To be ‘ish’ is to be imperfect, almost there, approaching. ‘Ish’ is the journey and the process. Perfection is not the goal of our artmaking, so, then what is? We say: satisfaction, expression, information, perception, and change.
