This exciting week-long course introduces youth to the vibrant and expressive world of watercolour painting. Students will explore the fundamental techniques and creative approaches needed to achieve success with this versatile medium while building confidence in their artistic skills.
Participants will learn the basic pillars of watercolour painting, including colour, value, shape, and edges, while experimenting with a variety of techniques and applications. Through fun and engaging subject matter such as birds, flowers, landscapes, and more, students will discover how watercolour can capture both realism and imagination.
Instruction will include brush techniques using a variety of brushes, as well as helpful “tricks of the trade” to improve control, texture, and overall painting success. This is a wonderful class for young artists looking to discover and explore the creative possibilities of watercolour painting. An exhibit of participants’ work will be held on the last day.
