Discover photography at its most basic and creative form! In this hands-on course, students will explore the fascinating world of pinhole photography while learning how simple materials can create powerful images. Participants will begin by designing and building their own pinhole cameras, gaining an understanding of how light, perspective, and early photographic technology work together.Using their handmade cameras, students will capture scenes from the world around them in this experimental and vintage-inspired art form. After exposing their images on photo paper, participants will enter the AGSM’s darkroom studio to develop and print their photographs using traditional black-and-white darkroom techniques.
Throughout the course, students will experiment with image-making, discuss their results, and explore how pinhole cameras can alter visual and technological perceptions. By the end of the week, participants will create a small book of work and select photographs to frame and display.
