Explore acrylic painting as a way of communicating ideas! Participants will develop skills in colour, composition, and paint handling while learning how their choices—such as palette, placement, texture, and layering—can shape meaning. Through the week participants will work on three paintings, each focusing on a different approach:
- A collage-based painting developed through layered underpainting and glazing
- A textured impasto painting using gel mediums
- An atmospheric painting created through scumbling
Group critiques are central to the workshop, emphasizing how formal choices shape meaning, encourage thoughtful, intentional approaches to painting, and help participants develop confidence in both making and discussing their work. The course is for all experience levels and will encourage students to work at their own pace.
