Opening Reception: Thursday April 16, 7:30PM

The exhibition Manitoba explores the past, present, and future of Manitoba through the perspectives of members of the Brandon Camera Club. Established in 1965 as the “Brandon Allied Arts Camera Club,” the Brandon Camera Club has been an active contributor to the thriving arts community of the Greater Westman region. On the occasion of Manitoba 150, which acknowledges the passing of the Manitoba Act in 1870 and thus the formation of the province, the Brandon Camera Club has challenged its members to interpret the wide-encompassing theme of “Manitoba” and offer a series of photographs as their visual responses.

The photographs capture the vivid landscapes, nature, wildlife and urban scenery across Manitoba, with a focus on the Westman region. This exhibition presents hopes and reflections on the significance of home of the Brandon Camera Club members.

Artist Biography:

The Brandon Camera Club has been active in the Westman region of Manitoba for more than 55 years. We meet to learn from each other, listen to inspiring guest speakers, and share our thoughts on virtually every aspect of photography. We also provide opportunities for group photo shoots so we can learn to put those new-found ideas and skills into practice in the field.
