How do I get to the Art Gallery?

The Art Gallery entrance is on the second floor of the Library/Arts building on the Southwest corner of 7th Street and Rosser Avenue. It does not currently have an entrance directly on the street. To visit the Art Gallery, enter via the northeast corner of the Town Centre Parkade at Princess Avenue and 8th Street [pin], or the Town Centre Rosser Avenue entrance at 800 Rosser Avenue [pin]. The AGSM is directly above the Western Manitoba Regional Library Downtown Branch. 

Where can I park?

Street Parking is available on Rosser Avenue (one-way going East) and Princess Avenue (one-way going West) or in the Town Centre Parkade. A $2 coin or parking token is required to exit the Parkade. Parking tokens are available to AGSM patrons at the reception desk. The AGSM pays a small fee to be able to provide tokens, so donations are appreciated. 

Is there a cost for admission to the Gallery?

It is always free to enter the gallery and browse the exhibitions and gift shop. Most of our public programs are also free of charge and open to the public. Donations of any amount are gratefully accepted in cash via the donation box in the lobby, by card to cheque at reception, or online. 

Is the Art Gallery accessible?

While the AGSM is an “accessible venue,” it is recommended that individuals contact us ahead of time to request a wheelchair, guide, quiet space, or other accommodations. The AGSM has recently taken part in a 76-point accessibility audit. Please check back for updates on our improvement. 

Do you offer private activities for groups?

The AGSM is proud to welcome hundreds of student groups each year in its Art Connects program, where art activities bring the exhibitions to life, make curricular connections, and open the world of art wide open. In addition, the AGSM can create engaging activities for groups of any size! Whether you’re looking for a creative icebreaker, a private exhibition tour, or a skill-building workshop, the AGSM’s team can help. 

When can I sign up for art classes?

We have three regular school terms every year: a Fall term that begins the third week of September, a Winter term that begins the third week of January, and a Spring term that begins mid-April. Additionally, we offer an intensive week of classes for kids during Spring Break (aligned with the Brandon School Division calendar), and a term of all-day classes for children and teens during the month of July.  Registration usually opens three weeks before classes begin, with one week of early registration for AGSM Members. The best way to stay up-to-date on upcoming registration is to sign up for our newsletter. 

How do I apply to exhibit my art in the Gallery?

While AGSM exhibitions are not submission-based, artists are encouraged to introduce themselves to the curator. To put forward an exhibition proposal, artists may use this exhibition submission form, which is designed specifically to guide artists who aren’t sure how to submit for an art exhibition. The curator will review all submissions, but cannot guarantee a timely reply to all inquiries. 

Can I apply to be an art teacher at the AGSM?

We are always happy to meet new instructors for our art classes for youth and adults. If you would like to join our team as an art teacher, introduce yourself online any time using this form. Desirable candidates will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art, Art History, Art Education, or a related field, or have equivalent experience. 

How are Gift Shop artists selected?

Artists who would like to sell their work in the gift shop are invited to introduce themselves to the Gallery Services Coordinator at [email protected]. 

Is there an online gift shop?

We do not currently have an online gift shop, but it is in the works. Check back in 2026 to see our progress. Who can use your facilities?

The AGSM rents out certain spaces for personal, professional, and recreational gatherings at competitive rates. Rental fees for non-profit organizations and community partners are further reduced. Rentals can include use of our kitchen, projectors, microphone, and other amenities. For information about facility rentals, contact [email protected].

AGSM Members have access to open studios at certain times during the year.
